1 What is the best flashing to use?
This will depend on your project entirely. Are you building a shed? Or need to waterproof your warehouse? Do you have a steep roof angle or is it flat? You can consult us regarding your project and we'll happily provide you with some valuable advice.
2Do you seal roof flashing?
Yes - we sell roof flashing in one variety, but with different finish. Please feel free to get in touch with us to enquire about our roofing flashing solutions.
3Should you nail down flashing?
No you shouldn't. That might cause the water to trickle down the nail and cause damage. The flashings we sell are provided with special fittings which will help you fit everything into shape.
4Is flashing water-proof?
Indeed, the primary function of rooftop flashing is to provide waterproofing, thereby preventing water ingress into the crevices and joints of metal roof sheets. By effectively sealing vulnerable areas such as roof edges, valleys, and penetrations, flashing acts as a protective barrier against moisture infiltration, which can lead to corrosion, leaks, and structural damage over time.
5How do you install mastic tape?
To apply mastic tape to metal roofing, ensure the surface is clean and dry. If it's raining outside, cover the gaps with foil and wait until a dry weather. Then, carefully measure and cut the tape to the desired length. Peel off the backing and firmly press the tape onto the roofing surface, ensuring good adhesion and smooth application. Finally, you can use foot pressure to ensure proper bonding.
6Can you remove mastic tape?
Yes, mastic tape can be removed from metal roofing. One effective method includes applying a heat gun to soften the adhesive. Or using a special solvent to dissolve the tape. Alternatively, you may use a putty knife to gently pry it off, but this method might take some time. It's crucial to proceed with caution to avoid damaging the roofing material.
7Do I need eaves fillers?
This will depend on your project entirely. Are you building a shed? Or need to waterproof your warehouse? Do you have a steep roof angle or is it flat? You can consult us regarding your project and we'll happily provide you with some valuable advice regarding eaves fillers.
8Are eaves fillers waterproof?
Yes, eaves fillers are waterproof and resistant to win, among other harsh weather conditions. A perfect addition to your project if you're based in the UK!
9What size screws for roof sheeting?
This will depend entirely on the underlying material that you’re fitting on. If it's wood or timber, then the screws will be of different parameters as compared to metal etc. Drilling in those screws might also differ.
10How do you screw down corrugated roof sheets?
You should definitely use our special screws, a drill and impact force to ensure the screws are properly fitted into the roofing sheet. If you require more help, please consult with our team regarding your project.
